As Time Goes By

The summer flew by and I barely noticed.  I forgot to do a lot of the things I had planned.
Oops. My bad.

Sadie (my new best pal) and I just watched the world go by

Oops. I forgot to read all the works of Shakespeare!!

"How poor are they who have not patience! What wound did ever heal but by degrees."
William Shakespeare

Oops. I forgot to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!!

Oops. I forgot to swim the English Channel!!

Oops. I forgot to lose 50 pounds!!
How can that fat woman possibly be me?
Wes (my son), Becky (my much younger, skinny friend),
and the worst picture of me ever. How brave I am to put this on my blog!

Oops. I forgot to get organized!!
Not my house, thank heavens. I guess things could be worse.

Oops and darn.  I forgot to garden!!

Again, not my garden, thank goodness, but I have plenty of weeds

Oops. I forgot to learn Italian or how to play the mandolin!!

Darn. I forgot to write on my Blog!!

However, with all those things I forgot to do, I did acquire a new guilty pleasure.

I became a fan of America's Got Talent and think ten-year-old Jackie Evancho was robbed, even though I do like the winner Michael Grimm.

If you haven't heard Jackie sing, you owe it to yourself to take a few minutes and listen. She has the voice of an angel. . . .straight from heaven.

What did you forget to do this summer?

fait accompli

Phew! Nearly two months after our old air conditioner died, we have our new one installed and running. Of course, it's only 88 today instead of 98 like it was last month, but hey--it's here and it's working.

Now that my brain (and body) can cool down, maybe I can get back to business, whatever that is. I have my lists ready and hope to be checking off "To Do's" quickly and efficiently as I get ready for my big trip to London in November. (Only two and one half months away!)

Blogging has not been a priority this summer, needless to say. However, I do enjoy reading other blogs when I have the time. When I have something important to say, I usually say it.

10 Days and Counting

It's HOT and it's been ten days since our thirty-year-old central air conditioner konked out for good. We also learned our furnace, also thirty, needs to be replaced. And it is best to replace both at the same time. Yikes! All I can say is $$$$$$. Ouch.

Several different companies gave us bids, all much too high. The reps were all talking numbers: SEERs, BTUs, voltage, whether we needed a two-ton or two-and-one-half ton unit. It sounded like Blah, Blah, Blah, to me. What's the bottom line? How much is it going to cost? That's the only number I understand, for Heavens Sake.

Getting financing is tricky because we just refinanced our house. And bought a new car. (Bad timing) For the time being, we have fans in every room and a window cooler in our bedroom. Frankly, it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Maybe we'll forgo cooling and heating for a year! (That would certainly save on the utility bills!)
