One Flaw in Women

(Image from www.pemberley.com)

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they
think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what
makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.
Women have vital things to say
and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,

IT IS THAT

THEY FORGET

THEIR WORTH.

Please pass this along to all your
women friends and relatives to remind them just
how amazing they are..

You're back!! Yay! I've missed your posts. This is a great one. I think women just need validation once in a while, and then we can get up and get going again. This post validates our worth. Thanks!

Poems like this get me out of the doldrums.

I can't think of any role that needs more self-motivation than being a woman of almost 60! Although I think I have value, I have to admit that nobody really NEEDS what I have to offer. I think of myself as frosting. Nice on occasion to add a little extra, but basically unnecessary.

It's really hard to keep my enthusiasm going when I'm reinventing myself and inventing my purpose. If I felt perky and peppy it would help, but it takes discipline to even get out of my computer chair and move around. I get too comfortable here.

I've never been vain about getting old, but I do worry that I have become the kind of old woman I was critical of when I was younger. I am beginning to learn that I shouldn't have judged people the way I did, because I didn't understand their situation. See? That's what I worry about! What if I get ALL the side effects of age that I used to denounce?

Anyway, your post lifted my spirits today. Have ME as your motivation to write! Actually Dee even asked where "Grandma's Stitches" had been. (He secretly follows some of my favorite blogs.)

So true. I wish more women my age would recognize their worth. I feel like a majority of my generation look outward to the world in hopes that they will receive recognition or validation. Instead, it seems that so many of us sell out, lower our standards, and conform to acceptable mainstream culture. I readily admit that there are days I feel unimportant as a stay at home Mom who lives in a ponytail and sweat pants, but something deep inside of me knows without a doubt that I am doing the greatest work of my life. That knowledge is what keeps my chin up and keeps me going.
